Have just seen this article blowing up on social media, at first you think no way this is so strange and culturally I can’t place this (this would never happen in the west!).
Once you dig into this you have the ahah moment, this is just so typical of China given two classic ingredients:
- Rogue elderly people
- Not giving a shit about anything
Have a chuckle here: http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-asia-china-37686968
When you also search for ‘Chinese Ikea‘ you tap into what appears to be a cultish following of the Swedish furniture company. Do Chinese people love Ikea that much? Or is it the first time they have slept on a bed that isn’t concrete or wood (read: beds are hard af in China)
Nothing is at it seems in China.
